Patrick McGee obtained a Bachelor of Psychology Degree and a Masters Degree in Child, Adolescent & Family Psychology at the University of Western Sydney.
Patrick has worked in the public health and education sectors and has been in private practice for the past 15 years.
With over 30 years experience he has an extensive knowledge in a wide range of psychological presentations and interventions. His area of interest has been caring for the well-being of children, adolescents and their families.
He has had many years experience in treating children who present with behavioural/learning difficulties, Oppositional Defiance Disorder, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, anxiety disorders, childhood depression and harassment and bullying. Patrick also has had 10 years experience providing psychology services in the treatment of people who are developmentally impairment, including Autism and pervasive development disorders.
He is highly skilled in helping couples resolve marital/family conflicts and relationship issues. He has observed that when working with children that this ultimately leads to the involvement of the family in the treatment process. In this area of counselling Patrick employs the Systemic Family Therapy model.
Patrick McGee will choose from a variety of therapeutic interventions, ranging from short term solution-focused therapy, psychotherapy, rational-emotive therapy and inter-personal therapy. He also has experience in the use of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in the treatment of depressive and anxiety disorders, substance and process addictions, anger management and sexual dysfunction disorders relating to men’s health.
Patrick has a thoughtful, calm and caring approach, and when combined with the most effective therapies he is able to facilitate enduring change for his clients.
