Consultant child adolescent and family psychiatrist

Dr Wai Ling Choi is a Consultant Child, Adolescent and Family Psychiatrist, having trained in Canberra (ACT) and Newcastle (NSW). He sees clients aged 0-25 years “as well as clients requiring specialist perinatal psychiatric care”.

He recently held a staff specialist position at Cairns Hospital, and continues to provide outreach child and youth psychiatry services at Cairns Childrens’ Clinic. His interests encompass the range of child and adolescent emotional, behavioural and cognitive problems including but not limited to anxiety disorders, mood disorders, substance use disorders, and neurodevelopmental disorders.

He also has a strong interest in attachment and trauma disorders, especially where this significantly affects the child’s development.
