5 Things to Do When You Feel Insecure

Although most people would have things that way, it is actually quite impossible to feel confident and cheerful all of the time. Certain situations can actually cause one to feel miserable and helpless. If such feeling continues for a longer period of time, or if your situation does not change, you might actually find yourself becoming more and more insecure as you see yourself not being able to do the things that other people can. So how do you go about this?

As with any major changes that you have to make, the first thing that you need to work on would be your perspective. Actively changing how you see things, however, would depend on where your insecurity is coming from. Is it because you have not found the love of your life? Do you feel unsatisfied with the kind of work that you are putting out? Once you have figured out where your insecurity is coming from, you can ask yourself what the other side of the coin is.

When you can see both sides of the coin, you can start looking at what your strengths and weaknesses are. Some people make a list of what they do and do not have. From those that you have tagged as your weaknesses, check which ones are within your control and which ones are not. Those that are within your control, start creating steps to change them. Those are outside of your control, find a way to work about them.

If you are an introvert type of person, you might find walking as a great stress reliever. It also gives you enough time to think things over and work on how you can deal with what is happening to your life. If walking is not for you, you can also start reading books in order to keep your busy. On the other hand, if you are an extrovert, you might want to consider going out with friends and engaging in sports as well as in other activities. By keeping yourself busy, you are actually taking your mind off of what is making you feel insecure.

Make sure that the people around you are not emotional vampires. Emotional vampires are those that leave you feeling unsure of yourself. Instead, make sure that you keep company with people who give off positive energy and who make you feel accepted. By surrounding yourself with positive energy, you get to build your confidence as well as your own positivity in life.

Lastly, stop comparing. We human beings are prone to comparing ourselves to others. It does not help that media is doing a “great” job of feeding us with how we should be and how we should look like. Work one being content with what you have while honing your skills that make you unique from the rest. Challenge yourself everyday and make sure you do one thing that scares you. Keep pushing your boundaries and do not settle for anything less than what you think you deserve.
